Cataracts

Patients that suffer from Cataracts often refer to the condition as looking through a cloudy window. The condition can affect just one eye or both and are a leading cause of blindness.

Visually Impaired

Cataracts develop when protein builds up in the eyes lens. This makes your vision ‘cloudy’ which prevents light from passing through. When a patient develops cataracts, they will generally experience,

-Blurred vision

-Difficulties seeing at night

-Trouble with bright lights

-Halos around lights

If you notice your vision is not what is used to be, they can lead to other problems.

Who’s at Risk?

Cataracts occur in older patients and the chances of developing them increase as we get older (over 60). As well as age, other factors that can lead to cataracts include:

 -Eye trauma

-Prolonged exposure to radiation

-Smoking and excess alcohol consumption

-Low Vitamin C levels

Your eyes are your bodies best guide and it is important you take care of them.
